Middlesbrough Mela

As someone who loves festivals and interacting with people of different cultures you can imagine how delighted I was to attend Middlesbrough Mela. Packed with live music, Asian food, stalls and a fun fair- the Mela is a great place to spend the day even with youngsters!
Held once a year, over the course of two days, Middlesbrough Mela is a great event to attend with children. With arts and crafts stalls, toy stalls, boxing rings, water walking balls, fun fair rides and plenty of ice-cream, my kids were certainly in their element!
There were activities at the event for both children and adults including Henna tattoos, toy stalls, fair rides and water walking fun.
There were lots of food stalls selling a variety of dishes, including chicken tikka wraps, chickpea curry, paneer curry, samosas - there was even a parmo stall! My personal favorite was the Jalebi stand, but my son's was the ice-cream van...of course!

Have you been to your local Mela? Where are you taking your children this summer?

Tell me in the comments below.
